Fact and Figures

Visit Cornwall recently published the results of a Cornwall Tourism survey for 2012. Before you yawn and stop reading fear not this blog won’t be regaling you with facts and figures … well just a few maybe relating specifically to Padstow (population 3700) Here are some of the more interesting bits:

1600 actual jobs are supported by visitor related spend (i.e. no visitors, no jobs)

289,000 day visits (that’s a lot of coaches, cars, boats and bikes)

£60.3 million spent directly by visitors. That’s impressive – and hugely important and we, and the pasty industry, are grateful.

Within the accommodation sector 40% of people stay in self-catering, 24% in serviced accommodation (hotels, B&B’s etc), 15% on boat moorings 15% in caravans/tents and only 1% in second homes. So 15 times as many people stayed on a boat and in their second home – amazing!
