Imogen, the latest in a series of storms, has arrived and is currently battering the coastal areas of the South West and Wales. So far this winter the worst of the gales have avoided us bearing down further north and bringing horrible flooding to the Lake District and other areas.

While no one wants to see anyone hurt or property damaged, there is something quite exciting about viewing the angry seas from a safe distance. The waves on this afternoons tide (Monday 8^th February 2016) are predicted to be ‘phenomenal’ which in Met Office speak means in excess of 46 feet (14m) high. This is quite something and with a high tide of 7.3 metres late this afternoon (Padstow at 17.26) it is a good opportunity to see what is happening via the safety of a web cam.

I have compiled a list of active webcams around the county starting with Widemouth (near Bude) via Padstow* (sheltered) to Watergate (Newquay) and Porthtowan on the North coat. Then to The Minack* (Porthcurno) followed by Mullion* on the Lizard and back up the south coast to Polkerris (nr Fowey):
