The Duke and Duchess of Cornwall visited Padstow on Monday 20th July 2015 amongst great secrecy. They arrived on a rather damp morning to be greeted by Alec Rickard, Kathy Pemberton, Rob Atkinson and Ann Kerridge who then guided them to meet various organisations such as Shelter and the Padstow Lifeboat.
As the Cornwall Youth Brass Band played on the bandstand, they moved on to chat to Lyn Thompson at the Whistlefish Gallery – she had started her business with backing from the Prince’s Trust and now has 12 galleries around Cornwall employing 85 people – not bad from a start up on a kitchen table!
From there they went on a walkabout around the town stopping to chat to locals and visitors and made their way towards Middle Street and a chat with Paul Ainsworth and Jill Stein. All in all the visit seemed to go very well in a relaxed and informal way.
