The Camel Estuary has long been a favourite place to learn to sail and there is a good sailing school at Rock  http://www.camelsailingpowerboatcentre.co.uk. It might be a good time to sneak in a quick lesson or two before things wind down for the winter. Another plus – you get to look at Padstow from the river whilst you are learning!
