It’s been an eventful week in Cornwall as a (slightly) unexpected dollop of snow hit the area on Thursday afternoon with a speed and heaviness which surprised everyone. You may have caught the news with tales of the drivers stuck on Bodmin Moor and many spending the night at Jamaica Inn. All true but what you won’t have read or heard about is the countless resourceful ways people dealt with quite an unusual event. None of them newsworthy but people helped each other, stayed overnight with friends or relatives, walked miles, sought help from 4×4’s or just sat patiently until they were able to move.

Padstow was among the areas quite badly affected but the upside was some very pretty scenes – here are a few photos taken during the afternoon:
